EB-5 Investor Visa
A structured pathway to U.S. permanent residency through investment.
Investment fromUS$800,000
- Standard investment
- US$1,050,000

Overview
The EB-5 programme allows a foreign investor to apply for U.S. permanent residency — a Green Card — for themselves, their spouse and unmarried children under 21, by making a qualifying investment in a new commercial enterprise that creates at least 10 full-time jobs for qualifying U.S. workers. Approval depends on eligibility, admissibility, job creation and visa availability.
The EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act of 2022 set today’s investment levels — US$1,050,000, or US$800,000 in a targeted employment area or infrastructure project — and authorised the Regional Center Program through 30 September 2027.

Before you decide
Good to know.
- Your capital is at risk. Project selection and due diligence matter as much as the visa.
- Green Card holders are U.S. tax residents and report worldwide income, like U.S. citizens (IRS “green card test”).
- Visa availability for India-born applicants varies by category and month — check the current U.S. Visa Bulletin with your attorney.
FAQs
What is the minimum investment for EB-5?
US$800,000 in a targeted employment area or infrastructure project, or US$1,050,000 elsewhere, under the EB-5 Reform and Integrity Act of 2022. Legal and administrative fees are additional.
Who can be included?
Your spouse and unmarried children under 21.
Has the 30 September 2026 deadline passed?
Yes. Under the 2022 Act, regional-centre petitions filed on or before 30 September 2026 are protected (grandfathered) if the Regional Center Program later lapses. Petitions filed after that date can still be made while the programme is authorised — currently to 30 September 2027 — but without that protection.
Are EB-5 visas available for Indian applicants?
Availability for India-born applicants depends on the category (reserved or unreserved) and changes every month. Check the current U.S. Department of State Visa Bulletin with your attorney.
Will the investment amounts change?
Yes. Under U.S. law the amounts adjust for inflation for petitions filed on or after 1 January 2027, and every five years after that. The adjusted figures had not been published when this page was last checked.
Will I pay U.S. tax?
Green Card holders are treated as U.S. tax residents and report worldwide income. Take cross-border tax advice before you move.
Information current as of 18 October 2026. Programme rules, investment thresholds, government fees and processing times are set by the relevant authorities and can change without notice.
